A bit about me
Hi, I’m John – but most people (and dogs!) know me as The Dog Dude. I’ve been proudly running The Dog Dude since 2019, providing reliable, caring, and fun walks and visits for pets across Newcastle.
Animals have always been my passion, which is why I completed my Certificate II in Animal Studies, including training in animal first aid. I’m also fully insured, with both police and Working With Children checks available on request. When you leave your pet and home in my care, you can feel confident they’re in safe, trustworthy hands.
Before following my heart into working with dogs full time, I spent nearly a decade as a qualified electrician. These days, I’m lucky enough to call caring for animals my career.
Outside of work, I’m a husband, dad of two, surfer, and runner. On weekends, you’ll often find me at Dixon Park Beach - unless I’m hanging out with one of my four-legged friends!
Whether you need regular daily walks, an occasional visit while you’re at work, or peace of mind while you’re away on holidays, I’m here to help. My services are flexible and tailored to your pet’s needs, from walks and playtime to feeding and check-ins.

Dog Walking
Your dog will be treated with the utmost care and attention every single time and will never be left unattended. My goal is simple: a happy, well-exercised pup who’s calm and relaxed after their walk.
For safety, all walks are on-leash and tailored to your dog’s pace and personality. I’ll come to your home and take your dog for a stroll (or jog!) around your local area, giving them the exercise, stimulation, and companionship they need.
Rain, shine, or anything in between, I walk in all kinds of weather so your dog never misses out. And if you’ve got a high-energy pooch who loves to run, just let me know! I’m fit, active, and more than happy to make their walk a real workout.

Pet Sitting & Home Visits
If you’re short on time, working long hours, or planning a weekend away (or even a longer holiday), I can help with my in-home pet sitting service. This service is available for animals of all kinds, not just dogs and cats, but also birds, bunnies, guinea pigs, and more.
By keeping your pets in their familiar home environment, you can avoid the stress of kennels or catteries and ensure they stay happy, comfortable, and secure while you’re away.
Pet sitting includes:
Playtime, cuddles, and company for each animal
Food and water bowls cleaned and refilled
Poop removal and tidy-ups
Walks for dogs who need exercise
Daily updates via text message, email, or Facebook for your reassurance
For holiday care, I can also take care of little extras like bringing in the mail or putting bins out.
